A Vintage Corocraft Hoots Duette brooch. A rare opportunity to acquire the iconic and truly wonderful 1940s signed Corocraft Duette aptly named ‘Hoots’ and in exceptional condition. What a terrifically fun piece! This particular one is also set in solid silver with a heavy gold vermeil. CoroCraft Duettes were made in gold plated sterling silver during the war years and so today are highly sought after due to the quality of these materials and craftsmanship.

The Owls faceted foil-backed amber crystal eyes are complimented by the finely set rhinestones and colourful yet delicate enamel that adorns these weighty solid sterling silver owls. The Duette frame and clips are in perfect and original working order, allowing the wearer the choice of either the owl duo brooch (duette) or one of both of the individual owl clips. Miniature feats of engineering when you consider the intricate construction of the duette mechanism.

These Corocraft Duettes are featured in many top end costume jewellery books and when in pristine vintage condition, like this one, are rare and sought after.

This particular sterling silver vermeil double clip measures approx. 6cm by 4cm and a single owl measures approx. 4.5cm by 2cm.

The Duette is extensively signed with the CoroCraft Sterling Pegasus mark No.8 dating the item to between 1942 and 1945. The Owls, the frames and the clips are all in excellent vintage condition.

‘Hoots’ is of course also featured in Brunialti’s American Costume Jewellery Book, amongst others.

A truly iconic, fun and very high quality piece of costume jewellery. Adorable.

Vintage costume jewellery is delicate and requires special care and attention.

To preserve its continued beauty and condition, it is important to keep your item boxed and protected from other jewellery when not being worn and away from liquids including perfume and hairspray. Items are typically most suited to occasional rather than constant wear.

Your order will include our care card suggesting ways to maintain the condition of your jewellery.

We cannot be held liable for any damages incurred after the receipt of products.

Additional Care Tips:
Avoid contact with liquids or humidity including sprays such as water, perfume or hairspray and creams. Exposing jewellery to wet or damp could harm the metal and reduce the life of the plating, as well as cause discolouration and/or loss of stones. Remove jewellery before washing hands, swimming etc.

Store your jewellery in the original packaging or a soft pouch to avoid scratches.

Add your jewellery last when dressing and remove before undressing. Avoid sleeping in your jewellery.

Avoid hard contact (i.e. dropping or knocking against objects) that can cause scratches or chips.

We are always happy to advise on the care specifics of a particular piece you may be considering.
