A spectacular Miriam Haskell Necklace and Earrings from the 1950s. Truly incredible style and craftsmenship.

A remarkable life, Miriam Haskell opened her jewellery store in New York City in 1926. Her jewellery reverred as some of the most elegant, ornate and beautiful designs of the time. She hand made and hand set her jewellery and sourced the best raw materials from across the globe. She used goldtone metal, an antique Russian gold metal finish developed by Haskell in conjunction with designer Frank Hess. She sourced her beads from France and Italy and her crystals were imported from the then Bohemia. During the second world war, Haskell innovatively adapted to alternative materials including plastics and straw and other natural components. Post war, her designs became even more vibrant, colorful and feminine looking. There was a move to more elaborate, larger pieces and multi bead strands and her sourcing went as far as Japan to bring the best pearls for her creations.

This set is a stunning example of the mid Century Haskell creations. The necklace in this set is hand made with exquisite attention to detail. A row of amethyst crystal faceted beads, interspersed with gold tone and aurora borealis crystal set spacers, forms the necklace. This leads to a truly eye catching, elaborate pendant. The pendant centres cleverley around a large oval amethyst crystal stone, surrounded by four amethyst beadwork and aurora borealis crystal set flowers. The pendant boasts stones and beads, layer upon layer, owing to Haskell’s clever techniques in the use of intricate gold brushed metal filigree findings. And it goes on…Five delightful amethyst crystal pendants drop from this breathtaking centrepiece, resulting in the most beautiful necklace from Haskell. The clasp on the necklace also an elegant feature and bearing the iconic crystal set Haskell flower hook with extender chain adorned with faceted amethyst glass beads concluding in an amethyst glass dropper with a crystal set rondel. The matching earrings also feature amethyst glass beaded flowers set with crystals and finely detailed filigree gold wash metal work, complimenting perfectly and in balance, the main pendant. The earrings are a clip back with an adjuster for comfort. A truly wonderful set by renowned costume jewellery maker Miriam Haskell. This Miriam Haskell Necklace and Earrings is in excellent vintage condition with a small amount of age appropriate gold wash wear on the reverse of the earrings – not noticeable when worn. The earrings and the necklace are signed plus the necklace carries the hangtag. This adorable necklace measures approx. 40cm long and the pendant a fabulous approx. 11cm by 6cm with a depth of at least 2cms. The earrings measure approx. 3cm across and just shy of 1.5cm deep. This is a truly incredible and increasingly rare Miriam Haskell Necklace and Earrings set. Without doubt it exudes femininity and exceptional style. And it always will.

Vintage costume jewellery is delicate and requires special care and attention.

To preserve its continued beauty and condition, it is important to keep your item boxed and protected from other jewellery when not being worn and away from liquids including perfume and hairspray. Items are typically most suited to occasional rather than constant wear.

Your order will include our care card suggesting ways to maintain the condition of your jewellery.

We cannot be held liable for any damages incurred after the receipt of products.

Additional Care Tips:
Avoid contact with liquids or humidity including sprays such as water, perfume or hairspray and creams. Exposing jewellery to wet or damp could harm the metal and reduce the life of the plating, as well as cause discolouration and/or loss of stones. Remove jewellery before washing hands, swimming etc.

Store your jewellery in the original packaging or a soft pouch to avoid scratches.

Add your jewellery last when dressing and remove before undressing. Avoid sleeping in your jewellery.

Avoid hard contact (i.e. dropping or knocking against objects) that can cause scratches or chips.

We are always happy to advise on the care specifics of a particular piece you may be considering.
