Vintage Hattie Carnegie Necklace Saphiret Crystal Rhinestone

SOLD

This piece has now sold. We carry a range of stunning Mid Century Designer necklace and please contact us direct if you cannot find the perfect piece through our online collection.  The most beautiful and impressive Hattie Carnegie piece we have had the pleasure of finding. Born into poverty, Hattie emigrated with her family from Vienna, Austria to America around 1900 to carve out a new life. Hattie Carnegie was indeed to become a top name in the fashion world, with lines originating in 1918 and by the 1930s, ranges including clothing, millinery and jewellery, not to mention perfumeries were the hallmark of her success. Her pieces especially those strong in style and design are highly sought after and rare. This gorgeous Hattie Carnegie necklace, stands out not only for it's impressive scale but also its geometric design blended with early 20th century elements, such as the art deco style faux 'crystal' ring and Saphiret art glass. A fabulously whimsical combination based on Hattie's sense of style and fun. The necklace is full on quality from start to finish with the snake link chain chunky and rich in colour and cleverly articulated to move beautifully as you wear it. The pendant is obviously the focal point of this piece. It comprises stucco effect gold tone metal, set cleverly with small rhinestone 'V' shapes framing the important Saphiret pear cut stones and the art deco style glass ring, that surrounds a full faux pearl. The faux Saphiret stones emit a stunning intense aqua glow from every angle, emulating brilliantly authentic Saphiret stones from the late 19th, early 20th century. The necklace measures approx. 46cm long and the pendant measures approx. 9.5cm by 5.5cm wide and approx. 2cm deep. The piece is in excellent vintage condition and is signed Hattie Carnegie. A rare statement piece from a truly exceptional, entrepreneurial costume jewellery designer with a fascinating life.

Aftercare

Aftercare:
Vintage jewellery is extremely delicate and requires special care and attention. Please be aware that vintage jewellery may contain lead or nickel. To preserve its beauty and condition, it is important to keep your item boxed and protected from other jewellery when not being worn and away from liquids including perfume and hairspray. Items are typically most suited to occasional rather than constant wear.

Your order will include our care card suggesting ways to maintain the condition of your jewellery.

We cannot be held liable for any damages incurred after the receipt of products.

Additional Care Tips:

Avoid contact with liquids or humidity including sprays such as water, perfume or hairspray and creams. Exposing jewellery to wet or damp could harm the metal and reduce the life of the plating, as well as cause discolouration and/or loss of stones. Remove jewellery before washing hands, swimming etc.

Store your jewellery in the original packaging or a soft pouch to avoid scratches.

Add your jewellery last when dressing and remove before undressing. Avoid sleeping in your jewellery.

Avoid hard contact (i.e. dropping or knocking against objects) that can cause scratches or chips.

We are always happy to advise on the care specifics of a particular piece you may be considering.
