Rare 1940s BOUCHER Phrygian Cap Mark Silver Heart Brooch
A superb and rare solid sterling silver Boucher heart brooch dating to the 1940s. Laden with tiny paste stones around a central heart shaped delicate blue crystal stone. The design and flowing lines of this piece scream the very best of Boucher design. Born in Paris, Marcel Boucher worked as a jewellery designer for Cartier, who brought him to America. Boucher founded his own company in 1937. Boucher made a name for himself creating individual works of art. Boucher pieces made between 1944 and 1949 are typically marked with a Phrygian cap above his initials - MB. This is the mark borne by this particular Boucher heart brooch, dating it precisely to this period. The pieces with this Phrygian cap and the MB initials are rare and highly coveted due to their age and perfect styling. This Boucher heart brooch is offered in excellent vintage condition and will prove incredibly wearable and versatile with today's and future styles, owing to its timeless appeal. The Boucher heart brooch measures approx. 5cm long and 4.5cm wide and is signed with the late 1940s Marcel Boucher mark and is also stamped Sterling indicating solid silver of the sterling standard.
