A superb and rare solid sterling silver Boucher heart brooch dating to the 1940s. Laden with tiny paste stones around a central heart shaped delicate blue crystal stone. The design and flowing lines of this piece epitomise the very best of Boucher design. Born in Paris, Marcel Boucher worked as a jewellery designer for Cartier who brought him to America. Boucher founded his own company in 1937, making a name for himself creating individual works of wearable art. His work is highly prized owing to his talents in producting some of the very best costume jewels of the era. Boucher pieces made between 1944 and 1949 are typically marked with a Phrygian cap above his initials – MB. This is the mark borne by this particular Boucher heart brooch. The pieces with this Phrygian cap and the MB initials are rare and highly coveted due to their age and perfect styling.
This Boucher heart brooch is offered in excellent vintage condition and will prove incredibly wearable and versatile with today’s and future styles, owing to its timeless appeal.
The Boucher heart brooch measures approx. 5cm long and 4.5cm wide and is signed with the late 1940s Marcel Boucher mark and is also stamped Sterling indicating solid silver of the sterling standard.

Vintage costume jewellery is delicate and requires special care and attention.
To preserve its continued beauty and condition, it is important to keep your item boxed and protected from other jewellery when not being worn and away from liquids including perfume and hairspray. Items are typically most suited to occasional rather than constant wear.
Your order will include our care card suggesting ways to maintain the condition of your jewellery.
We cannot be held liable for any damages incurred after the receipt of products.
Additional Care Tips:
Avoid contact with liquids or humidity including sprays such as water, perfume or hairspray and creams. Exposing jewellery to wet or damp could harm the metal and reduce the life of the plating, as well as cause discolouration and/or loss of stones. Remove jewellery before washing hands, swimming etc.
Store your jewellery in the original packaging or a soft pouch to avoid scratches.
Add your jewellery last when dressing and remove before undressing. Avoid sleeping in your jewellery.
Avoid hard contact (i.e. dropping or knocking against objects) that can cause scratches or chips.
We are always happy to advise on the care specifics of a particular piece you may be considering.
