An exceptionally rare and wonderful signed Boucher Ruby Sautoir Necklace made in America between 1955 and the early 1960s.
The sautoir comprises six strings of gilt box chain adorned with six beautiful accent pieces. These accent pieces clasp the chain as it drops towards the main tassel pendant. The accent pieces are made of gilt metal, finished in a brushed gold checkered effect and set with four cabochon faux rubies and tiny crystal rhinestones. The accent on the tassel drop pendant is a larger version of these smaller ones that adorn the chain and has no less than ten faux rubies and rhinestones. Gilt finishers complete the sautoir on each of the twenty strands in the tassel.
This is a truly incredible example of BOUCHER design and quality. Without doubt it is a rare find and certainly one of the most important pieces of BOUCHER jewellery we have seen.
The sumptuous gilded metal alongside the very convincing faux ruby colour just smacks of class and luxury high end jewellery. Indeed this sautoir is one of the great examples of costume jewellery emulating fine jewellery pieces.
The Sautoir chain measures approx. 84 centimetres long and the pendant top and tassel drop approx. 11cm in total length.
The sautoir is in great vintage condition and is clearly marked BOUCHER.

Vintage and antique costume jewellery is a luxury traditionally crafted product and it needs special care to preserve its exceptional character. Below please find some advice on care and simple steps you can take:
Your order will include our care card suggesting ways to maintain the condition of your jewellery.
We cannot be held liable for any damages incurred after the receipt of products.
Items are typically most suited to occasional rather than constant wear.
Avoid contact with liquids or humidity including sprays such as water, perfume or hairspray and creams. Exposing jewellery to wet or damp could harm the metal and reduce the life of the plating, as well as cause discolouration and/or loss of stones. Remove jewellery before washing hands, swimming etc.
Store your jewellery in the original packaging or a soft pouch to avoid scratches.
Add your jewellery last when dressing and remove before undressing.
Avoid hard contact (i.e. dropping or knocking against objects) that can cause scratches or chips.
We are always happy to advise on the care specifics of a particular piece you may be considering.
